Galia Lahav pays homage to the Victorian Era in her new Spring 2018 Couture Wedding Dress collection dubbed, ‘Victorian Affinity’. In this collection she has designed high collars, leg of mutton detachable sheer sleeves, embellished corsets, ornate belts used to highlight the waist, and voluminous skirts that give the look of layers of petticoats. All of these details give a nod to the Victorian Era but with a modern delicate touch.
A fairytale ball gown made of real silver twilight sparkly net with
an embellished corset, embroidered with 3D silk flowers with
crystal accents and a plunging V sheer feature. A neo Victorian
bustle petticoat made of sheer nude organza and silk ribbons. The
Petticoat is made of wide panels which form a voluminous and
dramatic volume.

During the Victorian Era, it was dominated by the use of corsets along with shifts, layers of petticoats, and other undergarments. All worn under respectable women’s clothing. One Parisian designer decided to go against the grain and created a look more figure-revealing and sans corset along with a slit to the knees. Her name was Jeanne Margaine-Lacroix. While other designers may have been toying with the idea, she decided to make it a reality. Jeanne debuted her new look at The Prix du Prince de Galles at the Paris Longchamps Racecourse in the spring of 1908. This caused quite a stir and unknowingly changed fashion history giving women a slender silhouette for the twentieth century. The dress style was dubbed as ‘the directoire gown’ by the press and soon women all over the world wanted one of their own.
A romantic Victorian tea gown made of French fish net lace and French Chantilly
lace, layered in multiple layers of various lace trims. The gown has a sheer corset
with a low plunging neckline and the shoulders have a French lace cape feature.
The back has a peek-a-boo sheer V panel, creating a sensual silhouette.

Nude and Ivory
While her gowns may have been on the front page of the paper and highly publicized all over, no one bothered to mention the designer’s name. Although she was not given the full credit for her hand in pioneering the new fashion movement with her daring creations and is somewhat forgotten, there are those that wish to give Jeanne the acknowledgment that she deserves. Therefore Galia Lahav has dedicated ‘Victorian Affinity’ to the brave and daring designer, Jeanne Margaine-Lacroix.

Dramatic fit & flare wedding dress. The bodice is a combination of a Dusty-
Rose background and a vintage hand embroidered lace, which combines a point
d’esprit background and a shimmery medallion embroidery. The sleeves are off
the shoulder, embroidered with pearl scalloping and sequined fringes. The skirt is
very voluminous with multi colored silk tulle handkerchiefs and the impressive
train is framed by two regal wings made a vintage rose embroidered net.
High neck Victorian choker, made of delicate scalloped French lace, gradually
embroidered with Swarovski pearls and trimmed with sequin fringes.
Slim fitted corset mermaid gown made of sparkly hand embroidered
Chantilly lace with a Victorian high neckline and sleeves. Made of
illusion and entirely decorated with Swarovski crystals. The gown has a
hidden inner corset and a body suit.

A Victorian wedding gown, homage to Queen Victoria’s wedding gown,
corseted with a sheer back made of a very delicate blush colored chantilly lace
over a shimmery background. It has many sheer cut-outs, which accentuates
the figure. The top has an elaborate vintage applique ornament which forms
an off-the-shoulder neckline and has a sheer drape silk tulle sleeves. The
appliques are decorated with multiple Swarovski crystals and pearls.
