Polo is known as the sport of kings and it’s easy to see why the game is so alluring to royalty, the sound of the hooves of powerfully bred horses pounding across the manicured lawns, the fine riding skills of the players as they rush and race to outmaneuver their competitors, and the expansive real estate of the nine football field lengths of just one polo field sets the stage for a heart racing show. Considered the second most dangerous sport, seconded only to car racing, the level of sportsmanship cannot be underestimated. Perched atop former Thoroughbred race horses, each player must exhibit a profound intuitive partnership with their steed, keeping a keen eye on the white ball shifting in all directions as the players swing long wooden mallets in an effort hit the ball in favorable position to score the winning goal. The Meadow Brook Polo Club is the oldest polo club in America and is often cheekily referred to as “a gallop away” from New York City. Located just inside one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Long Island, yet it feels like a million miles away from all the concrete, subways and smog, and more like wandering around an endless park where nature not only prevails but is celebrated. The club has an extraordinary provenance of American polo heritage with venues in Old Westbury, Bethpage, and
Caumsett State Park.

Founded in 1881, this club was the inception point for American polo. Historically significant Hickox Field and Bethpage Polo Field are among its renowned venues, both bearing witness to numerous historic matches and embodying the club’s commitment to the sport. Adding to the splendor is
the crown jewel – The K Estate at Groton Place, a remarkable 108-acre Georgian-style mansion estate known for grand events, film and television productions. Today, Meadow Brook continues to celebrate its prestigious lineage while inspiring future polo enthusiasts, extending an open invitation to all to join in

The principal of Meadow Brook Polo Club, Chetan Krishna, a polo team player himself, has invited everyone in the NYC and Long Island – Hampton communities to spend a Saturday afternoon at the polo field. Each weekend features a specially themed event, such as: the July 1st White Linen Affair, July 8th Havana Nights, or August 12th Casino Royale. It could quite easily be the best part of your week as you cheer on your favorite team, dance to the music of the resident DJ, have photo ops with the players and, of course, the Après Polo parties.
