It was when the jewelry designer Ritika Ravi, was first exploring the world of jewelry with her mother that she became inspired to create IVAR. Coming from an Indian culture where jewelry is an important part of everyday life, Ritika had a difficult time finding a style that spoke to her.

Browsing shop after shop and mostly finding designs that were traditional and commonly found among relatives and friends, it became a bonding experience for her and her mother to hunt through the glittering treasure shops to find something fresh, beautiful, that represented her heritage yet was modern and could be enjoyed every day. It was that heartfelt vision that led to the creation of IVAR as Ritika decided to take matters into her own hands.

Now with shops in India, the Maldives, and New York, it is clear that she wasn’t the only one looking for a modern point of view on future heirloom pieces for today’s woman.

One of the most celebrated collections is Charu, named after the designer’s mother, it’s a re-envisioned design on the ceremonial jewelry known as a Neli ring. Neli is traditionally gifted to a south Indian bride by her mother’s family on her wedding day. A gift filled with wishes of prosperity for the newlywed couple. It’s a beautiful sinuous ring of gold and jewels that dances around the finger and adds an element of intrigue.

Each IVAR design is contemporary, refined and bejeweled in dazzling, delicious colored gems of the finest quality. Even using the traditional polki cut diamonds, which is a diamond broken upon its cleavage plane. Polki cut diamonds are an unusual choice since each diamond needs its own specially shaped setting for its au natural form, but that attention to detail makes it a perfect choice for some of her finer pieces.
